This ASUS GA503Q came to Geld Technologies with CPU temperatures exceeding 95°C and GPU temperatures reaching around 85°C. We renewed the thermal materials, including liquid metal on both the CPU and GPU, and replaced the thermal putty. Following servicing, CPU temperatures dropped by 13°C and GPU temperatures by 5°C, with noticeably improved performance and no remaining issues reported.

Before the repair

Inspection found a dry spot in the CPU's liquid metal coverage, dried thermal paste on the GPU and hardened thermal putty on the surrounding components. The cooling assembly also showed visible dust buildup.

Our repair process

Inspecting and removing the old thermal materials

After removing the heatsink, we inspected the CPU and GPU contact areas. We removed the old liquid metal, thermal paste and thermal putty, then cleaned the exposed surfaces in preparation for fresh materials.

Protective coating and thermal material replacement

The final repair included conformal coating, heat-resistant tape and Tesa tape around the relevant areas. We renewed the CPU liquid metal and converted the GPU from thermal paste to liquid metal. Fresh thermal putty was applied to the components requiring it before final reassembly.

After the repair

The cooling assembly was refitted following servicing. Final results showed lower CPU and GPU temperatures alongside substantially improved performance. No remaining issues were reported.
